About
Hi, I’m Luz, and I am a queer full spectrum and postpartum doula who practices auntie medicine. What do I mean by that? I come to this work as a sibling who wants to see her community thrive.
My journey with birthwork began when my dearest friend and closest collaborator turned to me and said, “I need you to be an Auntie to my children. I need you to be there when I deliver, but I also need you to be present for my children when they are older and don’t want to listen to me anymore!”
In that moment, something clicked. Since then, I have completed my training with Birthing Advocacy and have joined the NYC Doula Collective where I receive ongoing mentorship support. I will also be graduating from Marysia Miernowska’s School of the Sacred Wild with a certification in Western folk herbalism in August 2025 and am excited to bring herbal support to the clients who desire it.
I believe that community is the foundation of all birthwork. Growing up in an intergenerational household, I learned deep networks of care and support from my family lineage. Together with deep listening, compassion, and nonjudgmental support, I am excited to empower families to make decisions about their birth and postpartum journey that feel good for them. I have an even keel and love being able to show up for my clients as a clear and calm voice amidst the overwhelm of the birth portal. As a lifelong dancer, I also have an intuitive understanding of bodies and am happy to provide comforting touch alongside emotional support and educational guidance.
I am especially passionate about helping families activate their own village—be that blood family, chosen family, as well as the rich networks of ancestors and plant-kin that surround us. My practice is rooted in an unlearning of the individualist myth that families have to do everything alone.
As a queer femme, I have a passion for queer and polyamorous families as well as families with histories of religious trauma. I am proud to serve the full spectrum of birthing people and family constellations. Finally, I am also developing support services and ceremony around the queer birth portal of medical transition and am proud to support my trans/gnc siblings on their journey to becoming their fullest, most joyful selves.
